Kaane Rava Fry

 Lady Fish Fried with Rava 


Rava fry these days is common among all fishes but I grew up hearing that it would be only used on kaane or lady fish. My dads mother would do it that way. So its a part of my dads childhood that I am sharing today with everybody.



Ingredients

lady fish 6-8
chilli powder around 6-8 tablespoons
turmeric powder 1-2 teaspoon
salt to taste
vinegar just enough to make a paste 
rava/ sooji/ semolina around 8-10 tablespoons enough to coat the fish
oil for shallow frying the fish.

Method 

Clean the fish and make slits over them and let it drain in a strainer or collander.

make a paste using vinegar, salt, red chilli powder and turmeric powder. Now apply over the fish nicely including inside the fish cavity anf let it marinate for atleast an hour, even a day is fine as long as you keep it in the fridge.

once the fish has marinated well, take rava in a plate and roll the fish in it. Side by side heat oil in a tava or fry pan and once the fish is well coated place into hot oil. Keep the heat at high for first 20 seconds and then on sim for atleast 2 minutes, then flip the fish and again on high for first 10 second then on low for a minute or two. After placing fish in pan use a lid to cover the pan to avoid any splatter battles.



 Now serve fish with a lemon wedge for some tang.
